Jesse Freeman is no stranger to sitting back and enjoying a burger or sixteen. The professional competitive eater known as Burger Daddy has eaten his way from competition to competition amassing a huge amount of knowledge (and calories), which has all led to him building his viral burger truck, Dip It.
“The whole idea of Dip It was to kind of meld the worlds between [American] East Coast smashburgers, Martin’s potato rolls, Oklahoma smashies, and then bringing that in with LA-style birria tacos”, said Freeman.
For Head Chef, Brad Shorten, the dippable burgers concept has allowed them to create a menu of burgers, dipping sauces, and dry dips that invites over 14,873 flavour combinations. “As a chef and consumer, having a menu that doesn’t change much gets pretty boring”, said Shorten.
But with their menu featuring so many burgers and dips – with items being added on and taken off weekly – the constant management and updating of it across all their delivery platforms started to eat into their time and costs.
Thankfully that all changed when they were introduced to Doshii through their Lightspeed POS system.

Honestly, like Doshii and Lightspeed, they pair together like a burger and a dip, and we love it

Containing the delivery beast
When it comes to running a food truck “delivery is just a reality”, said Freeman. “It’s the beast that we need to be able to make extra cash, cover costs, and keep staff moving”. But with the perfect pairing of Doshii and Lightspeed, which goes together like “a burger and dip”, jokes Freeman, they were able to tame that ‘beast’.
But it wasn’t smooth sailing to begin with. “I remember when we were working in the truck at first and every single time an Uber order would come through our point of sale system at the time, we had to put in the bloody items every single time, and it would just take so much time”, said Freeman.
Soon they had online deliveries feeding directly into their POS and into the kitchen thanks to Doshii. No double handling or re-keying. No costly mistakes. A POS-to-patties solution that “just consolidated it all”, said Freeman. “We saved seven hours a month just on entering orders from Uber Eats into our POS”.

We’re saving close to $1,000 a month on just labour… that’s $12,000 that we have [back] in our pocket a year

Keeping the menu fresh with Doshii’s POSync
With delivery orders taking off and new menu items constantly being added on, the Dip It team soon realised they were once again eating up precious time (and money) by having to update item and pricing on each of their delivery platform menus. “It’s crazy to think you basically have to quadruple handle your inputting of items… you’ve got Uber Eats, you’ve got DoorDash, you’ve got your Lightspeed, you’ve also got your online ordering platform”, said Freeman.
And for the Dip It team, that time really does add up. “Just recently I’ve had to update our drink pricing at Turramurra [Dip It site] and we have 62 different drinks, so going through each individual item on multiple platforms was just so time consuming” said Shorten.
But a catch-up call between Brad and Doshii’s Support Team soon led to the new secret sauce solving Dip It’s menu woes – POSync.
“Prior to Doshii’s POSync, trying to manage menu items across delivery partners was time consuming. There were errors, I’d have a different price on this one [Uber Eats] and a different price on that one [DoorDash]. It made it very hard”, said Shorten.
But POSync gave them the ability to update everything from prices and items to categories and availability directly in their Lightspeed POS and changes would sync automatically to every delivery menu they had live.
Doshii’s POSync even makes it easy to set percentage mark-ups for their delivery menus directly from their POS to help cover delivery platform fees.

The perfect pairing – Doshii x Lightspeed
Brad will be the first to say just how easy it is to deal with Doshii and Lightspeed to sort out any issues. Jesse adding in jest that whatever he does say makes Brad sound like he’s in an “insurance ad”. “Well it’s true”, said Shorten. “I’ve worked with other support providers before where you have an issue like, okay, we’ll [the provider] get to it someday. And you know, they’re never going to do it”.
For the crew at Dip It, all it takes is a quick call to either Doshii or Lightspeed, depending on their issue, to get a solution from a Support Team member who understands the ins and outs of hospitality.
